COMPACTED EPS

Expandable polystyrene is used for building insulation, protection of white & brown goods and other industrial products and for food packaging (fish boxes, etc). All types of polystyrene can be recycled; the first step consists always of compacting to reduce its dimensions from initial 12-20 kg/m3 to 250-300 kg/m3 in order to make the transportation from the origin to the place of final transformation economically viable.  Expandable polystyrene can be transformed into PS re-granulate or extruded polystyrene.
It is important to differentiate the following types of polystyrene :

• Post-industrial, issued from white&brown goods; directly from industry or retail;
• Insulation, containing flame retardant agent, issued from :
• Production facilities, in form of dust
• Construction sites, in form of cut parts;
• Issued from food packaging : fish and fruit boxes and planting palets.  

All types of of expandable polystyrene can be recycled provided it is clean (white, no  dirt nr addition or other materials, commonly used together as plastic foil, paper, wood, glue, etc).

Expandable polystyrene when dirty, can be only burnt or disposed at a garbage damp. It has to be reminded that in Poland it is less and less authorized to dispose a loose polystyrene on damps so in any case it has to be compacted before disposal.

TV and COMPUTER CABINETS FROM INJECTABLE PLASTICS

The cabinets for modern TV sets and computer monitors are made of injectable plastics, mainly polystyrene (PS), ABS pure or with addition of polycarbonate (PC).

Those products can be almost fully recycled, provided that thay have been properly segregated into different, homogenous categories of plastic material.

THERMOFORMED PLASTICS

Industry and food processing are using thermoformed materials in form of trays for small products.
The plastic materials are PS, PP, ABS, PVC, etc.

EPS COMPACTING

MONDAY INTERNATIONAL disposes of a range of specialized equipment for compacting of normal expandable polystyrene (EPS) and modified expandable polystyrene (NEPS).

At the request of the customer, we can lend the equipment for a temporary or permanent use in places where the polystyrene waste is generated or stored. Our compactors can be also adapted for compacting of other types of foam plastics (XPS or EPP).
